LAWN BOWLS ISLE OF MAN
It was a golden day for our newest members Lisa Barnett and partner James Dooley who were each part of the winning rink in the Ladies and Men’s National Fours event earlier today.
The Ladies final was a seesaw match with the eventual winners off to a flying start worth a 10-1 lead only to be pegged back and trail by a couple of shots going into the last 2 ends. In a dramatic final end with the jack in the ditch and little grass on the lightning fast run off it was a tall order for skip Bernice to draw within a foot of the end of the rink to force a tie break. When her final bowl just dropped off next to jack it hailed the end of a gallant effort by the runners up and all credit to the winning four Marcia Pearson, Lisa Barnett, Anne Bannan and skip Dee Lewis in a splendid performance in the tricky conditions.
Meanwhile in the Men’s final the most effective player on the day Roger Pullin, helped immensely as his team mates put together some fine bowling to overcome their opponents. A worthy victory by the rink of Andy Dixon, Roger Pullin, James Dooley and skip John Kewley on their title.
