INDOOR SEASON & CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND-UP

With the new outdoor season just underway and with a busy calendar of events scheduled for the summer months, it is worth reflecting on the achievements of our members who performed admirably in the 2025 leagues and National Indoor Championships.

Congratulations to Mark McGreal on picking up his 5th Indoor Singles Title with victory in the final over John Kewley. Mark also added another Pairs Title along with his father Clive, with the runners up being Dee Lewis & Gary Lenton, who showed some good form throughout the season himself after getting acquainted with his bowling arm!

Bernice McGreal secured her first Indoor Singles Title with a win over Caroline Corlett in her first major final.

The Triples final saw 5 LBIOM members compete, but it was Trevor Quayle and Brian Lindsay who were partnered with Wayne Roberts who triumphed over Clive & Bernice McGreal who teamed up with David Quirk.

The league season was competitive throughout, with most leagues being determined on the final day. In the Premier Pairs, Mark & Clive McGreal under their Dragons title largely started slowly and lost too many first sets to be in the running for the premier league title, but they did manage to upset the league leaders Alan Moore & James Teare (Ayre Assassins) to prevent them from claiming the title, which left the door open for Trevor Quayle and Wayne Roberts’ Simple Minds to snatch the trophy on the final day. It was a similar story in the Team league, where the Dragons and Simple Minds were in the thick of it! However, despite their poor run of form in the Monday night league, Paula & Stuart Garrett (Villians) turned it on in the Team league registering only one loss all year to claim the title. The Villians also claimed the Tuesday Morning Team title, but were hard pushed by Ramsey Raiders, who featured Gary Lenton, Clive McGreal and John Houseman. The lawn bowlers were however able to get some league success in the Friday Daytime Pairs with the Dragons coming out on top!

Well done to all our members throughout the season.

In advance of the World Indoor Championships, starting on 20th April, we all wish our representatives Mark McGreal & Caroline Whitehead our full support and best of luck in their competition.
