COMMONWEALTH GAMES SELECTION

Lawn Bowls Isle of Man are pleased to announce that two of our members have been successful in being selected for the Commonwealth Games which will be held in just 90 days time, which was announced at the official launch held at the Claremont Hotel last night. Both Clive and Mark McGreal have been selected as part of the 32 strong team of elite athletes by the IOMCGA panel, and they will be joined by Bernice McGreal as the team’s manager. The Commonwealth Games is a fantastic opportunity to see an Isle of Man bowls team compete against some of the best players from around the world.

Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association president, Basil Bielich, said: “The selection for the team has highlighted the high level of sporting talent in the Island, with 43 athletes meeting the qualifying criteria, of which only 32 could be selected for the team”.

Chef de Mission Leonie Cooil added: “I am delighted with the team that we have selected. It is a mixture of experienced athletes and those making their Games debut. Every athlete on the team has the opportunity to show the rest of the world what a force the Isle of Man is on the global sporting stage.”

Lawn Bowls Isle of Man would like to wish them both the very best with their final preparations towards the games.
