REARRANGED JOHN RAMSEY PAIRS A CLOSE ONE

The John Ramsey pairs which was scheduled to be played on the 16th June was played on Saturday with teams being drawn to play with one another as is the tradition. The Island has been blessed with some glorious weather this summer, so much that the green isn’t so much the colour its named after, but a rather dull yellow and brown, for the most part anyway! The conditions enable those to have the finer touch to show off their skills as the green is resultantly playing as quick as it ever has done. However, with the extra speed comes the challenge of negotiating some of the rinks hazards which are exaggerated in faster conditions. Those who faired best were the pairings of Win Kewley and Mel Reed, along with their opposition in the final, Bernice McGreal and Gary Lee. There was a bit of back and forth but the multi-time former singles ladies champion and multi-time pairs championship runner up in McGreal and Lee showed why they have been so successful in recent years. They both put in a fine display to pull off the victory. Congratulations both!
