The annual triples competition hosted by our partners Onchan District Commissioners was played on Saturday under glorious conditions. The conditions allowed for some quality bowls on what was a reasonably quick surface. The team of Mel Reed, John Kewley and Clive McGreal couldn’t be matched throughout the whole competition, and they deservedly won by being the most consistent trio and going through the whole day undefeated. Clive is showing that he is almost back to his best after his hip operation earlier this year, and this was a massive boost for John having found himself falling at the last hurdle last year to be runner up. The biggest point from the day however is that Mel is proving himself to be a bit of a triples specialist, having now won his third Onchan District Commissioners crown in the last four years, with three completely different teams.
