LAWN BOWLS ISLE OF MAN
Lawn Bowls IOM held their National Triples and Fours Finals on Saturday 1st September with both the Ladies and Men’s events keenly contested. The Ladies Rink of Charlotte Dutton, Marcia Pearson, Bernice McGreal and Janice Pilling produced a fine performance to overcome the challenges of Barbara Reed, Anne Watterson, Win Kewley and Karen Slack to register the first winners of the National Fours Title which will become an annual fixture in the calendar. A similar result featured in the Ladies National Triples Final with Marcia, Bernice and Janice also successful in the inaugural event.
The Men’s competitions had a similar theme with the Men’s National Fours Title going to the President, Phil Watterson, Alan Pearson, Clive McGreal and Mark McGreal with a comfortable win in the final. The Men’s National Triples Title was also won by Mark and Clive accompanied by Gary Lee. Their victory in the final over Phil Smith, David Quirk and John Kewley provided some particularly skill-full shots by both teams in the difficult conditions.
