JOHN RAMSEY PAIRS FIRST IN 37 YEARS

It was another busy day for the organisers for this season’s John Ramsey pairs competition as 14 pairs entered to make a claim on the trophy. There was a random draw creating the fixtures, giving each pair the opportunity to play three matches. After three games, only two teams were unbeaten. Janice Pilling & Karen Slack progressed and faced last year’s winners Win Kewley & Pam Makin. The best two pairs on the day showed why they were in the final. It was a tense and low scoring match, but it was Kewley & Makin who managed to claim not only a 4-1 victory, but the honour of being the first team to retain the trophy as an entered pair since its inception in 1985.
