LBIOM

Members of LBIOM visited the San Francisco Lawn Bowls Club on their tour of America’s west coast. SFLBC is situated in a great location within the Golden Gate Park, and has three excellent greens to play on. Since the end of the COVID pandemic, they have managed to increase their membership threefold! Many of their new members are brand new to the sport of bowls, and it is impressive to see a large number of young players taking up the sport.

Both Clive and Mark McGreal were invited to play in one of their weekly competitions, to play against some of the best bowlers in California. SFLBC have dominated the California State Championships in recent years, and have produced many of the US national championship winners over its 122 year existence.

Our thanks and appreciation goes out to SFLBC who provided us with a warm welcome. Our members were also amazed to see the Isle of Man pennant presented to SFLBC by Win and John Kewley when they visited a number of years ago so proudly on display in the club house.
